hello new york indeed!! so lets just say our journey didn't exactly go to plan. for a start michael's younger brother was refused entry on to the flight due to a damaged passport, at first we thought they weren't serious and laughed it off but as it dawned on us there was no way he was getting on the flight you can imagine it was no laughing matter. so off he slumped in the hope of getting an emergency passport. which he didn't. turns out emergencies only happen monday to friday...gotta love that logic.

next up was michael's mum, she didn't have an esta the lady at check in informed her. she did, but it was one digit out from her passport therefore didn't register (kenny!;) just as we thought she'd be sent packing too we were told we could do it there and then, thank god!

so with a man down and the wind out of our sails we boarded the flight. it was going take something big to cheer us up....cue new york.
our first little glimpse
cheesy tourists in-coming
my first drink in new york while we waited for our room. they didn't ask for id, it would appear that ship has sailed :(
then we hot footed it over to the rockefeller center for the best view in town

this was such a wonderful introduction to new york. the sun beating down in its full glory. completely smitten
a quick drink pit stop at the waldorf astoria (as you do) before we headed to grand central station
i was blown away by grand central station, now that is a way to welcome people travelling to your city by train. we had an amazing steak at michael jordan's restaurant, but it was the view that was the winner for me

by 8.30pm we were exhausted and i could barely keep my eyes open, so we headed back the hotel and were tucked up and asleep by 9pm. by then my throat had started to hurt, my naivety thought it was overtiredness...ignorance was bliss at this point.

first day down and if it hadn't been for jet-lag there would have been no way i could have slept.

    1. we were so lucky with the weather. on our last day it was in the seventies, our pale british skin was in shock!!
we were gutted but in fairness the passport had been through the wash so wasn't looking too healthy.
