what a sight to see

when i first came to edinburgh i visited all the sights, but once i settled in to this new place called home, well of course then life happened and with it my forgetfulness of such sights. though i'm not as bad as some, namely my husband, born and bred in edinburgh and never been to the castle!! i'm completely serious. never. been. i'm pretty sure that means he's not a true edinburger (edinburger-still makes me chuckle)

since caleb has been born, that's all changed. i feel like i'm seeing this city with fresh eyes. the fresh eyes of my son. i look forward to each 'new to him' place we go, i love watching him react to his surrounding. the way he wrinkles his brow (one of my favourite caleb faces, oh so serious)  or the way he looks so excited he may literally leap out of his pram, i'm pretty certain that's going to happen any day now, and lets not forget the smile. oh the smile, nothing quite like finding new appreciation for a place when it makes your boy smile. he loves it. i love it. simples.

so along with grandma edinburgh we took caleb to the scottish national gallery of modern art, and what a sight to see...

i love the lawn or landform, as they call it, outside modern one. you're able to walk on it which i can imagine will be a winner with caleb when he's (much ;) older
caleb of course wasn't interested in what the galleries had on offer inside, but outside, different story...
gotta love your own reflection hey! if you look on the right of the above picture you'll see a little girl who was also a fan of these strange glass walls. once caleb and her clamped eyes on each other she ran straight over, and i happened to capture it in this next picture...
CRAZY hey!! i can't stop looking at this picture, such a mad little moment.
also love how kids just become friends instantly.
eh you look about my age...wanna be pals?
eh okay.
great lets play

so daddy, caleb is totally taking over you on the sightseeing stakes, you'll need to up your game ;)

how about the rest of you, what's your favourite sight you like to visit where you live? or like my husband, a sight you've grown up with but never visited?

i'm not innocent mind, i''ve never been on the beatle's tour, yes that's right a scouser who has never been on the beatle's tour. mmm maybe that's my next trip when i'm in liverpool. jayne and nathan are you in?? ;)

a {couple of} weeks in this little house

this little guy has been...

  • gabbing non-stop. in the last few weeks instead of random babbles i feel like your definitely communicating with us. it's amazing watching you learn how to talk.
  • putting his hands on his head when i ask him where his head is! ah the singing of 'head, shoulders, knees, and toes' to you a gazillion times is finally paying off ;)
  • putting mobile phones to ears and saying 'hiya', 21st century kid right there.
  • caught in the act crawling in his cot long after we've put him into bed. tinker!
  • on his very first visit to gullane and north berwick. lets hope the weather bucks up so we can actually let you loose on the beach next time.
  • helping/terrorising mama in the kitchen. oh yes it's time for baby gates me thinks.
  • gaining so much confidence. when i now take you to your baby groups you saunter off as if to say, 'i've got this mum, i'll see you later'.

well son, you are without doubt not a little baby anymore. you know what, we're okay with that because my god are you fun right now. seeing your confidence grow and how comfortable you are in your own skin makes me feel so proud i could burst. i can't wait for all our adventures we're going have this summer. i think a lot of mischief is going be had that's for sure!

got that friday feeling!

oh yes i've got that friday feeling! hello weekend i am ready for yooooou :)

our friday so far has been lovely getting to spend it with grandma edinburgh. i seriously lucked out in the in-laws department. we always have the best time together. i'd be lost here without mum two (as i like to call her) her support and love means the world to me, and i know my own mum feels all the better knowing i have her here. i almost feel greedy that i have these two amazing ladies in my life. caleb, if there was a grandma lottery, you've won it.

other lovely things going on....

i had the honour to guest post for one of my favourite bloggers, shelby from brandon and shelby. you can see my post here. it's amazing getting to meet (in the blog sense) all these talented people, and shelby is certainly one of them, i LOVE her photography. if you are not already following you must check out her blog and the way i see you series that she is a part of. such beautiful photography, it really inspires me to learn more when it comes to taking pictures.

and if appearing on one of my fav blogs wasn't enough the lovely erica from something like a fairy tale nominated us for a very inspiring blog award. thank you so much! when i first started this blog i did not anticipate to enjoy it so much, nor did i imagine anyone else would care. so thank you again erica and all you other lovely people who take the time to read our little blog. that in itself inspires me.

anywhoo enough of the mush before i start bawling my eyes out (you can tell as a once-upon-a-time actor, i've practised many an acceptance speech ;)

have a lovely weekend everyone, i hope the sun is shining for you . we have hail stone here as i type, yes hail stone. i mean really?!

by the way, how many times could i have possibly wrote the word lovely, but you know what, i meant every single one. lovely lovely lovely

there's no place like home

there is something about the place you grow up in, it is like it's part of you. it doesn't matter how far you may move from it, it holds on tight. like a dear friend. like all dear friends, i don't see her as often as i would like and it was time for caleb to have a proper introduction.

liverpool welcomed him with open arms...

oh liverpool i had forgot how stunning you are. you really are something.
so a day showing my boy the sites, what to do next i wonder...
altogether now...ferry across the mersey. they actually played that song on the ferry, predictable? no. amazing? yes!
my home city is not immune to my cheesy tourist antics ;)
it would appear there is a lot of fun to be had on deck :)
what a view hey! it's a view that has changed so much since the last time i was on the ferry. it might not be to everyone's taste but i just adore the mix of old and new buildings. this city is seeped in history but i now like the fresh outlook these buildings bring.
talking of new buildings, are next port of call was the museum, in a word - wow.
our timing was perfect and the little liverpool gallery was just starting (it's an hour session). it was perfect for the caleb and nathan, they were off like a shot exploring
with this being our first stop when we arrived at the museum, it worked out perfect as the boys were pretty tired afterwards and chilled in their prams as my sister and i showed them the rest of the museum. i won't bore you with the hundreds of photos i took!! there was so much to see and take in, here are of few of my fav bits on the day...
this roger mcgough poem gave me goosebumps
nothing quite like the pride of scousers
seeing gecko's tribute to the families who fought for justice was made all the more poignant by the three minute silence that was being held that day. each canvas is different to represent each victim. the numbers on them, their age. the pink canvasses, for the women who died. it really does stop you in your tracks and demands the attention it so rightfully deserves. it's a stunning tribute.

so as first proper introductions to the city centre go, i think it was a pretty damn good one. thank you to my sister and nathan for making it a day to remember. looking forward to our next pool adventure ♥
