this was super easy and super cheap, always a win win in my book. the whole thing came in at exactly £10, £9 for the ikea racks and £1 for the three sample paints. with a couple of coats of paint they were done and ready to mount on the wall. easy, well apart from the wall bit. we live in a new build apartment and the walls  are pretty much hallow. lets just say there was a little swearing on my part and a few holes left to disguise, but hey what you can't see!!

i'm loving that caleb has started to take an interest in books. he used to just chuck them out of my hand, or turn the page before i could read out the first line. now he takes a real interest and seems bemused by all the voices i do (you can take the girl out of acting....) i love nothing better than a cuddle and a book with him, it's one of the rare times he will stay still now. these racks are perfect for his growing collection of books, and i made sure to put them at his height so he's able to take them out himself.

anyway time to sign off, i've got the final episode of broadchurch on pause so i don't need to watch all the adverts. so excited! it's been a while since a tv series has had me this hooked. my money is on the detective's husband. ah it's an exciting life i lead ;)

  5. This is amazing! Poor Harry has the SMALLEST room and no space for a big bookshelf so this is a great idea. Also, random q but how strong are they? If I put them up in the kitchen as a cookery book-shelf, would they hold the weight? Thanks! x

    1. this is perfect for small spaces! great thinking with the kitchen cookery book idea, the shelf itself is really sturdy just depends on what your walls are like. we live in a new build (in other words - crap walls!!) so we have to use plug and screws. i'm tempted to use a bit of no nails though just to make sure it takes caleb's weight with him pulling himself up on it to get to the books.
